We Build Technology for What’s Next

Anquin is a technology company that builds and operates AI and software products. We focus on solving meaningful problems, turning ideas into useful products, and building businesses that create lasting value.

We believe the best companies are built by staying close to the problem, moving quickly, and taking responsibility for the products we put into the world.

Our purpose

We believe most software is built for the company that ships it rather than the person who uses it. Anquin exists to build the other kind, and to keep running it long after the launch.

We start with the problem
A product has to be able to name the person it is for and what was wrong before it existed. If it cannot, it is a feature looking for a reason. If a good enough tool already exists, we do not build a worse one to compete with it.
We build it and then we run it
Ownership is what makes the long term possible. When the people who wrote something are still the people running it, a fix takes a day instead of a quarter, and a decision made two years ago can still be explained.
We build for the decade, not the demo
We write software we expect to still be maintaining in five years. That changes what you choose: fewer dependencies, plainer solutions, and no cleverness that only its author can follow.
One company, one standard
Every product runs independently, and none of them starts from nothing. The same bar for engineering, the same approach to security, and the same design language, whoever is working on it.

What we build

One product today, built and operated entirely in house.

Padhify

A study tool for exam preparation. It answers questions from the syllabus and past papers a student is working through, and builds practice around the topics they keep getting wrong.

When there is a second, it will be here for the same reason the first is: somebody had a problem worth solving.

What we value and how we act

These are not posters. Each one is a decision we have already made more than once, and each one costs us something when we keep to it.

  1. Solve the problem, not the brief

We take an empirical approach and care about the size of the impact rather than the sophistication of the method. That means identifying the simplest thing that works and iterating from there. We do not build a spaceship when a bicycle would do.

  2. Own what you ship

There is no client to hand a project to and no team behind a wall who inherits the consequences. If you build something here, you also run it, and you will still be the person who understands it a year later. That is a constraint on what we take on, and deliberately so.

  3. Build it to be kept

Every dependency is a thing that can break, go unmaintained, or change under you. Every clever abstraction is a thing the next person has to decode. We choose the boring option often, because boring is what is still working in five years.

  4. Security is a starting condition

Handling other people’s data is a responsibility taken on the first day, not a milestone reached later. We would rather ship later with the boundary in the right place than ship on time and add it afterwards.

  5. Say the true thing

We would rather publish a gap than fill it with something that reads well. Where this site does not know something, it says so. Where we hold no certification, we name the ones we do not hold. A claim nobody checks stops being true, so we check ours in the build.

  6. Finish things

The work is broader than a title usually implies and slower than a sprint board usually allows. We would rather do one thing properly than four approximately. The last ten percent is the part that decides whether anyone can actually use it, and it is the part that gets dropped.

Governance

Anquin is Anquin LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in India. Every AI and software product carrying the Anquin name is built and operated by that entity. None of them is a brand we license, a joint venture, or a partnership with somebody else running it.

Each product is a separate service on its own domain, with its own terms, privacy notice and support. Those are the documents that govern your use of a product; the ones on this site govern this site.
